Lemay Corkball Club League Rules :

1.Elections and Officers- League officers will be elected for a (4) year term through a voting ballot held at the annual draft meeting. Officers and their duties shall be as follows.
President- Run meetings,co sign checks, order jackets,shirts, plaques, food and beverages for the picnic, and other events.To oversee the entire function of the league, and be the deciding member of the rules committee.
Vice President- To assist the President on all functions,set up playing schedule,set up meetings, tournaments,picnics and fundraisers etc. (To serve as President when the President is unavailable.)
Secretary- To assist the President and Vice President on all functions. To assist in the set up of the player draft chart,and to record all players names and team numbers during draft. Order All playing Equipment and to oversee Field Operations.
Treasurer-Maintain financial records,co sign checks, assist President and Secretary on all functions.
Statitician- To record all of the season statistics and enter in the league website.
Board of Governors- consist of four players that have the most seniority but are not league officers.
Their duty is to review game and league Policy rules and to present suggestions to the President.
2.Rules Committee- The rules committee shall consist of (1) player from each team.The rules committee representative does not have to be the captain of the team. The main function shall be to rule on any disputes during the course of the season regarding playing rules. The (6) rules committee repsentatives and the president will make the final decions on the rules during the season.
Note: The President may not serve as a committee representative.
3.Annual Meeting and Playing Dates-The annual meeting and the League draft will be held on the 2nd Week of March. The season will begin 2 weeks after the draft. Note: The President has the right to call a mid season meeting at the fields at his discretion.
4.Teams and Players- The (6) Teams shall consist of no more than (8) players on a team.
Players that played in the league prior to the last season will need to re-enter under the new players list, Unless prior notice has been given to the President.
5.New Players - each new player shall be (18) years of age prior to April 1st. A new player must recieve a 51% favorable vote to become a member of the league. The vote will be taken at the begining of the annual meeting. All new players must be submitted to the president prior to the annual meeting.
6.League Policies- The Lemay Corkball Club reserves the right to terminate a membership after league policies,rules or conduct has been abused. The player may receive up to (3) warnings.
6.01 Intoxication-Drinking alcohol is permitted. However a player that is intoxicated prior to the game will not play and receive (1) warning.
6.02 Violence- Threating or acting in such a manner will result in membership termination.
6.03 Dues- Dues left unpaid will result in termination of membership, unless arrangments are made with the treasurer.
6.04Attendance - Any Player that does not show up for (3) consecutive weeks and fails to contact his team or any active member of the club about his absense, will result in replacement of that player.
The first player on the waiting list will be the player that will take the roster spot.
7.Season Dues- $125.00 dollar fee shall be paid by the start of week (3). Team captains will be notified of those with unpaid dues. ( If you need to make payment arrangements see the treasurer).
8.Picnic- Players and their families will be invited to the league picnic in August.
Guest of a member will be charged a $25 .00 fee per couple including children.
9.The Draft-Pitchers and Catchers will rotate the captain position each season. Teams will be picked in a open draft using the following format.
The top (6) pitchers are determined by amount of wins.
The top (6) catchers are determined by batting average.
9.01The Captains-shall pick numbers from a box to determine the order of draft selection, and shall rotate each round.
9.02 Selections-After the selections of the pitchers/catchers the rest of the players will be selected in a open draft.
NEW RAIN OUT RULE IN EFFECT 2025
Note: 20 week format RAINOUTS WILL BE MADE UP:
When a game is rained out the teams will play (2) four inning games to complete the schedule the folowing time they play each other.
Game Rules
1.Weekly Play 20 weeks-The first (5) weeks of the season will be played as (5) inning games. The last (15) weeks will be played as (7) inning games. Game Time is 6:00pm with a grace period no later than 6:10pm. A game can be considered a complete game if 2 1/2 innings of a (5) inning game or 3 1/2
innings of a (7) inning game with the home team ahead. Rainouts are to be avoided if possible. The Team Captain from each team and the President will decide if the games are playable.
Games suspended due to darkness will end the inning after the (2) team captains announce the final inning, a new ball will be used in the top half of the new inning. The game will then be a complete game.
2.Pitching-The pitching distance is (55) feet from the back of home plate to the pitching rubber.
2.01 There is no limit on how many innings a pitcher can pitch in a game.
2.02 A pitcher can only re-enter (1) time. Example: If the starting pitcher leaves the game to go to the outfield that player can re enter the game as the pitcher,but if the player leaves to play another positon he is then unable to pitch for the rest of the game.
2.03 The Pitcher will only receive 10 warmup tosses in between innings or equivilent to on minute (60) seconds.
There is no limit on pregame warm ups, however NO Games shall start later than 6:05 PM CST.
3.Umpiring- The Catchers have the duty of calling balls and Strikes and calling a batted ball fair or foul.
The catcher will make the call if he has caught the ball cleanly for an out.
Batters-Must make the call on a check swing,and must make the call whether he has been hit by the pitch .The batter must make the call whether he has been struck by a batted ball.
Outfielders- Must make the call whether they have caught the ball cleanly.
Note : All outfielders must make the call on all homeruns on all fields.
4.Ball/Strikes/Outs- (5) balls= a walk, if the batter swings and misses and the ball is caught cleanly by the catcher the batter is out. If the batter swings and misses and the ball is dropped by the catcher the call is a strike,the batter can swing and miss only (3) strikes before he is out. (2) called strikes by the catcher is an out.
4.01 A Hit by pitch (HBP) the batter is awarded the base. Note: The batter must make an attemp to elude the pitch. If a ball strikes the ground just prior to hitting the batter it will be ruled a HBP. If the ball bounces in front of the batters box area and strikes the batter it shall be ruled a ball.
4.02 If the batter swings and has contact with the catcher on the swing the call is catchers interference(CI) and the batter is awarded a walk.
4.03 A batted ball that strikes the batter, the batter is out.
4.04 If the ball strikes the batters bat without a swing the ball will be determined fair or foul on where the ball stops.
4.05 If the batter swings and misses and the ball hits the batter, the batter is out.
4.06 Batting out of order with (1) pitch being made to the batter, the batter is out.
4.07 If the batter steps out of the batters box and hits a pitch he will be declared out.
4.08 If the ball hits the ground and the batter swings and makes contact the ball will be called fair or foul depending where it stops or out if it is caught. If the batter misses the ball it will be ruled a strike and if the ball hits the batter he will be awarded a hit by pitch or a ball refer to rule 4.01A. If the batter does not swing and the ball crosses the plate it is ruled a ball.
5.Foul Balls/Hits-A line (6) feet in front of home plate is known as the foul line. Any ball that does not travel past this line is an out. If the ball stops on the line it is an out. The ball must go completly past the line for a hit. A batted ball can land in foul territory and travel past the foul line into fair territory and it would be a hit as a batted ball can land in fair territory and travel foul and it would be an out,
if the ball makes contact with an object behind the foul line it is dead and a out.
5.01The catcher can make an attempt to keep the ball from going over the foul line, if the attempt is successful it is an out, if the ball is mishandled and travels over the line it is a hit.
Any fielder can make a attempt on a ball near the foul line,however if the ball is touched by the fielder in fair territory and goes foul it is a hit. As if a fielder mishandles the ball in foul territory and the ball travels into fair territory it is a hit.
6.Homeruns- Orange cones will be placed in the outfield (250) feet from home plate. The cones will serve as the markers for a Homerun. Outfielders may stand at the cones,but never travel past the cones in attempt to catch a ball. If the outfielder does catch a ball at the homerun line the ball will be out, unless the line is stretched which would result in a homerun.
7.Standings and Season Play- The season will consist of either 15 or 20 weeks, to be determinded at the beginning of the season. A win = 2 points A tie = 1 point. The top 4 teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the playoffs.(Single Elimination) The playoff bracket will be as follows: No.1 seed vs No.4 seed and No.2 seed vs No.3 seed. The higher seed will always be the home team.
If teams are tied in the standings at the end of the regular season the following tie breakers will apply:
A. Head to Head- total points
B. Total Wins- (League Wins)
C. Head to Head- total runs
D. Head to Head -total hits
E. Head to Head -total bases
F. Season total runs scored
Note: If the teams are still tied a one seven inning game will be played to determine the winner.
